Christmas Crafts for Kids

Christmas is one of the most enjoyable holiday periods for doing art and craft activities with your children. In fact, there are so many opportunities to do Christmas crafts with your kids that sometimes it’s hard to choose which ones to do first! It’s also always a messy time of year, so don’t forget about Breeze’s Stain Removal Tips. We’re always on hand to help you get clothes looking as good as new.

Here are a few of our favourite Christmas craft ideas for children.

Christmas Craft Ideas

Paper Gingerbread Men

We have shared a great recipe for gingerbread men, but if baking really isn’t your thing, why not make paper gingerbread men instead? Get your kids to either draw gingerbread men by hand, or trace around a cookie cutter on heavy paper or cardboard instead. Next, it’s time to decorate them! Use markers, paints, glitter, sequins, buttons – whatever you have around the house!

Homemade Advent Candle

Children spend most of their time preparing for Christmas by counting how many days are left until 25 December. Why not do things the old fashioned way? Get a long coloured candle, score 24 notches along the length of it, and take turns to burn away a part each day until you reach Christmas Eve.

Paper Belén

Many homes like to display a belén depicting the birth of Jesus in a stable. There are lots of fun ways to construct your own scene using toys that your kids might already have. Read this article for wonderful ideas for belén using recycled materials. Another fun idea though is colouring and cutting out a paper diorama. Here’s a cute example, but you could draw your own.

Santa Jumping-Jack

No Christmas home is complete without a Santa decoration, and what’s more fun than having a Santa that your kids can animate? Use a basic jumping-jack printable like this as a template to create a jumping Santa. Hang it on the back of a door or in a window and let your kids have fun making up amusing scenarios.

Parol Making

Alternatively, a more traditional Christmas décor would be the ‘parol’, which is fun and easy to make by gluing a star made of coloured Japanese paper or cellophane paper to a bamboo pole.
